Holiday Hair Tips

During the Holidays we get so busy that at times we tend to neglect ourselves.  And that is especially true when it comes to our hair.  And our hair is what people see first!

Read below for tips that will not only save you time, but also help you achieve glamorous hair all year and especially through the holidays.

Dull Hair?
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!  Not only is this excellent for your body, it is just as necessary for your hair!  Water hydrates the body and helps to regulate the circulatory system, which feeds the hair follicle, which then stimulates hair growth. If your hair roots are deficient in adequate water levels your tresses will eventually become dry, brittle and may stop growing.  Hair that is strong and well-nourished is sure to shine, even when the weather outside is cold.

Staticky hair?
Winter is the worst time of year for this.  Between the dry heat and all of the styling for those special occasions our hair suffers.  Use a deep-conditioning treatment once a week to keep hair moisturized,” says Cheryl Whitt, Stylist and Founder of Queen C Hair Extensions.  Also, use a silicone product to reduce flyaways and static in dry hair.  For a "at home remedy",  run a dryer sheet down your hair.

Are you Doing Proper Hair Maintenance?
Book an appointment to have your hair trimmed.  Split Ends "travel" up the hair causing more damage and dullness.  On average, hair grows at a rate of about one-half inch per month, and typically the hair should be trimmed every 8 weeks.  Regular haircuts do not make your hair actually grow faster. Rather, regular trims prevent your hair from suffering breakage and split ends that make your hair appear to grow slower.

What Are You Sleeping On?
If not a Silk or Sateen Pillowcase you are more than likely causing hair breakage.  Not only that, cotton can pull moisture out of your skin and cause dryness.  Talk about getting your beauty rest!   Make every hour of dozing off beneficial to your hair.  Damage can be caused  to the hair being roughed up and tangled while you move around in your sleep. A silk or sateen pillowcase will help give a more slippery surface for the hair and will avoid excess friction.
